MY MISSISSIPPI ART BOX

A gallery for all tastes, Caron Gallery showcases nearly 50 artists and their visions, with a wide variety of styles, including abstracts, modern and traditional landscapes, figures and the unexpected. Whether you’re a customer looking for a piece to inspire you and bring you joy in your home, or a decorator looking for several pieces to bring your interior design ideas to fruition, our staff is ready to help you fill your needs.

Come experience the warmth, inspiration, and vibrancy of a gallery where we celebrate Mississippi art!

How do you take into account the process of natural selection as it pertains to the art image? What happens to our cut off edges, torn off strips and forgotten drawings? How do you look at a shape and reuse it in different spaces and colors to create new ideas from repeated patterns?

Nicole’s printmaking process is one that involves the mimicry of an ecosystem. Creating a regenerative process from accumulated images with commonly tossed print matter. The medium she uses to embody this process is rooted in printmaking but branches off into collage, painting, drawing, sculpture, zine and bookmaking.

In this workshop we’ll be working with both western and eastern papers and several different adhesives. Each participant will be working on at least 3 collage pieces at one time to start to look at the potential within each piece of paper as it’s own form and it’s use in different spaces.

We’ll be learning about how different papers work with each other and how to use these characteristics to our advantage to add texture, diverse color ranges and interesting forms.
We’ll also be incorporating some stenciling, drawing and paper folding.

All materials will be provided, however, participants are encouraged to bring any paper material they are drawn to work with i.e. previously started works on paper such as drawings, paintings, pastels; collected papers from notes, notebooks, magazines, newspapers, photocopies. All paper material brought to the workshop should be pieces you are prepared to cut into and regenerate into a new form.

Participants will leave with several collage works of their own that may take a 2Dimensional or 3Dimensional form. Must call the gallery and pay ahead of time to reserve your spot!
