Charles Guess is one of our two featured artists for the month of April. Each time Charles visits an art museum the area he seeks out first is that of the European and American impressionist. He has always been fascinated by the application of color and value in order to create an image in the viewers mind without depicting each detail of a scene or model.

Charles feels that art should stimulate some memory or emotion within the viewer, something that causes one to pause for a moment and to literally have an encounter with the specific piece of art. View more of his work here!

There is still time to see our April exhibit featuring the work of Charles and Darlene Scott. Details can be found here! Show hangs until Monday, April 30th.

Caron Gallery proudly presents “Memories from the Heart” our April dual exhibition featuring the abstracts of Darlene Scott and impressionistic landscapes of Charles Guess. It is a combined show of two painters who use their own style and technique to recreate the world around them. Although their styles are a big contrast, they both interpret the places and people they see each day onto the canvas.

As an abstract painter, Darlene uses a fine balance of color and form to allow the viewer to establish their own ideas of what she has created. They can allow the flow of the imagery to spark a wide range of stories from their own minds. As an impressionistic painter, Charles applies soft and soothing colors to define landscapes that we can place ourselves. Whether it’s a setting amongst the trees or viewing a field across the lake, we can imagine an experience inside it. View more of Darlene’s work here! View more of Charles’s work here!

Join us for the opening reception on Thursday, April 12th from 5 to 7PM; artist talk at 6PM. Join us for an evening with these two talented artists! Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Show will hang until Monday, April 30th.

Caron Gallery, located in historic downtown Tupelo, was established in 2010 as a platform for Mississippi artists to showcase their creative talents. We strive to build relationships with these artists and share their stories with our community.  The artwork is constantly changing and the artists evolving, while still maintaining a high level of artistic talent.  Our welcoming staff provides excellent customer service and is available for art consultation, commissions and installations.
