About Rachel Misenar
For Rachel Misenar, art has always been her first true love. Rachel grew up in the American South. Her appreciation for art was fostered early on by her father who taught her about the great painters of our time and took her on excursions to New Orleans’ art district on Magazine Street. Rachel’s work is deeply connected to her past and her environment. Always aware of her roots, in her paintings, Rachel looks closely at her surroundings—the plants in gardens and parks—and paints them rooted in the soil that sustains them. She layers paint and colors and creates lively patterns to capture their intricate, natural lacework. Rather than individual objects, she depicts networks and ecosystems. She hopes that her artwork will inspire people to stop and notice the beauty in the world around them.
