Adam Trest's newest collection, In the Round, turns symmetry into a puzzle of color, movement, and detail!
These acrylic on linen pieces are inspired by vintage scarfs. Adam loves that when a design is turned into a scarf, the composition can shift.
"I loved thinking about how when worn, the border along the edge becomes more important than the subject in the middle, and then when worn a different way, the corner becomes the focus. This made me look at my compositions differently. Instead of focusing on one singular subject, I challenged myself to think about how each piece of the composition could potentially be the subject."

While creating this collection, Adam found his daily inspiration through choosing the subjects he wanted to paint. He found himself exploring things he has always loved by painting them in a new way.
Even though he focused on objects he loves, there were challenges throughout the creation of his work. He found painting in radial symmetry is not always easy. Constantly making sure that the designs around the subject of these pieces were cohesive became a fun obstacle for Adam to face.
"I think the goal of this collection was to push myself to paint in a way I haven't really done before. Symmetry is challenging, and trying to create six radially symmetrical pieces was quite the puzzle."

In the Round will be available online and in stores on November 29th, 12 PM CST.
