40 Paintings for 40 Years

Adam Trest has just released a brand new collection, Good Day. Rooted in a simple belief—that spotting a fox means something good is on the way—this collection invites us to see the everyday through a lens of quiet optimism. Layered with acrylic and water-soluble wax pastel on linen, each piece plays with color, texture, and intention, turning small moments into something a little more magical.
Created as a milestone 40th birthday project, these 40 works are a celebration of choosing joy, even on imperfect days. Because sometimes, a good day starts with what you decide to notice.

What inspired this collection?
"Growing up, my mom had a way of making the ordinary feel magical. She used to tell us that if we spotted a fox in the back woods, it meant we were going to have a good day. Simple as that. And you know what? We believed her. That small idea stuck with me—the kind of quiet optimism that changes how you see everything. This new collection is rooted in that feeling. Foxes woven into scenes that are meant to remind you (and me) to look for the good, to expect it, and maybe even to create it. Because sometimes, a good day starts with what you choose to notice. And I definitely want to continue noticing good things on this milestone birthday."

Adam enjoyed playing with color theory while creating this collection. His daily experiment was exploring the way different colors interact with each other. Adam also used pastels to create patterned backgrounds to add subtle texture and pattern. He found this both a challenge and inspiration!
What is the goal of this collection?
"The goal of this collection is to celebrate the philosophy that we can choose our good days—not that bad days won't come, but even when they do, we can look for the elusive "fox" and find a spark of joy"
Adam hopes this collection can bring joy into your homes and remind you that a good day can start with what you choose to notice!
