"This series of work is based on the spiritual and earthly aspects of memory and hope. The small charms or Milagros are viewed as a sign of hope and remembrance, and are sometimes carried or tied to sacred objects. Historically, they are tokens of health, prayer, and good luck. I have been fascinated with this practice since my first visits to rural Mexico nearly 40 years ago. Milagros translated is "miracle."
