About Mitchell Walters
Creativity feeds my soul. Years ago, as a mother of three young children, I found myself sketching and painting after bedtime as a way to relax and feed my urge to create. To my delight and surprise, my pieces began selling, and Mitchell Fine Art bloomed into a business.
I grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, and developed an early passion for the arts. My grandmother was an opera singer and watercolor artist, and my dad was constantly sketching fascinating drawings and baking incredible desserts. It was impossible to not be inspired!
After graduating from The University of Mississippi with a degree in Journalism, I moved to New York City and worked for Calvin Klein Collection. I was fascinated by the fabrics and structure of each piece of clothing, and fashion heavily inspires my art today. Faith also influences my pieces, and I am enamored with the female form and the sheer beauty of nature. Whether I am painting an abstract silhouette, a bee or ballerina, I enjoy using precise details to evoke emotion and movement. As a self-taught artist, I enjoy using several mediums, including ink, watercolor, charcoal, acrylic and gold leaf.
Over the past few years, I am thankful to have been represented by several top galleries and have shown my work at gallery openings and festivals across the southeast.
