About Carolyn DeLeo
Carolyn Bogart DeLeo was born in Mississippi but grew up in Kansas where her father, who served in the Air Force, was stationed. Carolyn returned to Mississippi in her early 20’s and studied commercial design and advertising.
After graduating, she moved to New Orleans, where she became known for her avant garde approach to design and illustration and won recognition from both the European and New Orleans Art Directors & Designers Associations. As an illustrator she was invited by Intercoiffure International to represent the United States with a painting for a group show themed “Woman” at Artcuiale Gallery in Paris, with artists representing countries across Europe. After several years in a commercial field, painting became the balance to the technical demands of commercial design and illustration. Her paintings were bold and expressive, drawing from personal experiences and her travels throughout the United States, Mexico, Europe and the Mediterranean.
Carolyn moved to New York after marrying and painting became her focus. With work in Corporate and private collections, Carolyn has exhibited in galleries throughout the Hudson Valley including The Hopper House, Hamilton Fish Gallery, Garrison Art Center, Rockland Center for the Arts, The Art House, Belle Levine Art Center, Evolving Images Art Gallery and Eisenhower Hall.
In Mississippi where she and her husband now live, she has continued her reputation as a fine artist, having exhibited at One Blue Wall, The South, Fondren Traders and currently with work at Fischer Gallery and Caron Gallery. Carolyn recently exhibited with her son, Ethan Bogart, at Grit Gallery, Newburgh, New York.
