Collection: About Sadako Lewis

Sadako Lewis is a Japanese-American Abstract Expressionist painter on the Mississippi Coast who uses acrylic with collage and mark making techniques. She obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from William Carey College although her education in art began long ago. Sadako’s father, an Impressionist artist himself, taught her about the great artists of the Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and Expressionist periods. Later in life, Sadako was moved to her core while experiencing a Joan Mitchell exhibit that led her to change the course of her artistic discipline. She is influenced by Mitchell, Willem de Kooning, Lee Krasner, Hans Hofmann, Mark Rothko and Cy Twombly whose works tend to be large, visionary, and very individualistic in thought and emotion.

Sadako is a professional artist who has won numerous juried shows, received several grants, commissioned multiple works and has paintings at several galleries. She enjoys the challenge of creating art.
