Collection: About Buttons Marchetti

Inspired by the landscapes, flora, and fauna of her native central Mississippi, Buttons Marchetti creates abstract expressionist oil paintings that captivate the eye with her unique use of shapes, color, and light. Her paintings take form in a color pallet that ranges from bright to soothing, whether it is in the form of whimsical florals, land and waterscapes, or colorful abstracts.

Coloring, drawing, and painting were a favorite pastimes of Buttons, an only child.  Today, she loves everything about painting: from discovering new subject matter, to mixing new colors, and trying new styles of expression.  Her greatest inspiration is from creation, and she expresses her interpretation of her Creator’s beauty by painting oil on canvas and wood panels.

Buttons holds a BFA from The University of Mississippi.  She has studied with Daniel Green, John De la Vega, Mississippi artist Wyatt Waters, and plein air artist Camille Przewodek.

Buttons resides in her native town of Jackson, Mississippi, which continues to inspire her art. Buttons’ still life, landscape, bird and abstract paintings are held in private, corporate, and university collections, and are exhibited in galleries in Jackson, Mississippi, and throughout the Southeast.
