“White Cedar” by Rob Reedy

Acrylic and mixed media on paper, framed to 13 x 28 inches. This piece is part of our “Mississippi Impressions: Artists’ Expressions of Life in the South” exhibition in conjunction with Mississippi’s Bicentennial celebration. Rob says, “This piece is the first in a series of mixed media works inspired by the landscape of the Natchez Trace. As a young artist growing up in north Mississippi, the beauty of the rural landscape has always been inspiring. This new series focuses on the lone cedar trees as figure metaphors. My compositions contain real and imagined landscape imagery. The collage aspect of this work is reminiscent of the random constructions of crazy quilts.”
