“Back Hoe” by Rob Reedy
Framed to 34.5″x16.5″ inches, mixed media and collage. From Reedy’s most recent “San Pedro” series. Reedy says, “During this last year my wife and I have watched in horror as a developer purchased some five hundred acres of beautiful untouched live oaks and wetlands next to our ten-acre horse farm on Lake Howell in Winter Park, Fl.
This property was full of wild life indigenous to Central Florida. The original owners of this property were a local Catholic retreat called San Pedro. Currently, the land is being prepared for development by removing thousands of oak trees over one hundred years old and filling in the natural wetlands. This series constitutes a documentation of this process from the artist’s perspective. This series is a visual statement intended to remind us of how important it is for us to be good stewards of our land….our world.
