Collection: About Kevin Gillentine

Mississippi-born artist Kevin Gillentine discovered his love for painting and drawing at an early age, beginning formal classes at just fourteen. He later studied art at Mississippi College before completing graduate work at Memphis State University. After school, his passion for creativity led him to New York City, where he spent seven years working as an artist for Broadway theater and motion pictures while continuing his studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

In 1995, Kevin moved to New Orleans to devote more of his energy to fine art and design. Since then, he has become widely recognized for his large-scale, atmospheric landscapes — works that invite a sense of calm, reflection, and familiarity. His paintings often feel like memories: soft, expansive, and quietly powerful. Drawn from the scenes and spirit of the American landscape — especially the fields and skies of northern Mississippi where he grew up — his pieces evoke places viewers may feel they’ve been before, even if the settings exist only in imagination.

Collectors across the country, including well-known public figures and top interior designers, seek out Kevin’s work for its tranquil presence and timeless beauty. His paintings appear in national publications and are part of private and corporate collections throughout the United States and beyond. He is also represented by galleries in Houston, Dallas, and Baton Rouge. Kevin describes his work as a gentle reminder to slow down — to find stillness, simplicity, and a moment of peace. His goal is not to make a loud statement, but an enduring one.

“My paintings are my memories. But I try to paint them in such a way they become yours too”
