Working in oil, Carol draws inspiration from her farm’s bluff overlooking the Delta, where each evening offers a new display of warmth, movement, and magic.

Carol’s process begins outdoors, capturing the changing light through quick plein air studies, sketches, and photographs before bringing those impressions into the studio. Each painting reflects her desire to preserve the spontaneity and freshness of those fleeting moments while inviting viewers to linger in the beauty of the landscape.
The title piece, When the Sun Goes Down, came together with an effortless flow of brushwork, while Delta Down Below challenged Carol to return again and again to higher vantage points to create multiple studies of the scene. Her favorite piece in the collection, Distant Shower, reflects her love of marsh landscapes and the interplay of design, color, and reflections dancing across the water.
