Bridge of Hope : Becky Watts

Introducing our newest Caron Gallery artist: Becky Watts!
For Becky this series symbolizes the idea of persevering and moving forward, no matter how challenging the circumstances. It represents the concept of overcoming obstacles and being shaped by the journey. In the end, we all reach the other side and can reflect on our progress.

Just Be
"This series represents the bridges that connect the seasons of our lives. At some point we all experience rough waters in our lives that we have to push through. The pieces here were inspired by a chapter that was closing in my life as my husband finished his medical residency. We are so happy to finally be on "the other side" of that experience, and it made me think about how that relates to many people but with different situations. We were grateful for what all he learned during his training and the friendships we made, but glad to have closed that chapter. This series is intended to be a symbol to push on and keep moving forward, whatever your hard season may be."

This Time Around
"I was inspired by many friends who came to mind while thinking of their stories that relate to this series. I wanted to create something that would remind them to keep moving forward and lean on the support of those around them taking one day at a time until they were "on the other side" of their own bridge."

She's The Song
The artwork in this series is crafted with the purpose of visually reflecting the strides we have made in our personal journeys.

The Creek

Becky Watts is a Memphis native who moved to Starkville in 2023 with her husband and two children after living in Trussville, Alabama and Madison, MS for her husband's medical training. She graduated from Mississippi State University with an elementary education degree and an endorsement in art. She taught from 2014-2023, but decided to step back from the classroom and pursue her love for art. She is inspired by nature and the beauty in which the Lord placed all around us. Creating art is an outlet for Becky where she feels she can silence any thoughts or worries and find peace. It is especially meaningful to her that she can bring people joy by doing something that gives her joy as well.
