A Southern Welcome features floral arrangements painted in acrylic on cradled wood panel, a new surface for Maury that allowed her to explore fresh textures and techniques.
Created in a season of anticipation and new beginnings, Maury painted this collection while settling into a new home with her husband and preparing to welcome their first baby, Millie. As she worked, she reflected on the way flowers have marked so many important moments in her own life—from the bouquets she saved while dating her husband to the arrangements that filled her family’s home each spring.
"My hope is that these paintings remind people of the celebrations, the gatherings, the acts of hospitality, and even the seasons of grief that flowers represent in their own lives."
Among the collection is Maury’s favorite piece, Backyard Daffodils, inspired by the daffodils that bloom behind her parents’ home each spring. The painting captures memories of family, tradition, and the small acts of kindness that make a house feel like home.
