ABOUT RICHARD TUCKER

A Tupelo native, Richard began his studies at Parsons School of Design in New York, NY and studied under Greely Myatt and Rob Reedy at Itawamba Community College. He completed his education at the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing. Recognitions include: Louisiana Watercolor Society 33rd Annual International Exhibition – Merit Award 2003 GumTree Art Festival, Tupelo, MS – First Place Painting and Purchase Award 2002 Hilton Head Watercolor Society Juried Exhibition – 2002 Germantown Art League – 2002 GumTree Museum of Art Juried Exhibition – Merit Award 2001 Richard says “My work is inspired by contrasts: contrasts of color, contrasts of shape, and contrasts of subject matter. I feel that my work is also about teaching – showing and explaining the ordinary in extraordinary ways. “Retaining the transparent integrity of watercolor is very important to me. In doing so, I try to push the watercolor to its limits – darkest dark to lightest light. “My goal in art is two-fold: to make the most of the abilities that God has given me and to create art that captures my view of the world and is enhanced by my passion for life.”
