RICARDO MOODY

ABOUT RICARDO MOODY

I am interested in making work that draws upon memory and meaningful experiences. Incorporated into each work are vivid colors and patterns which I use to impart emotional texture and visual interest.

Additionally, I embrace the act of daydreaming to recall purposeful interactions with both people and places; a process that entails using personal photographs and sketches. When creating a composition, I also intentionally incorporate imagined spaces and totem objects. In this way, approaching each painting intuitively, the viewer is allowed to form their own observations and imagine their own narrative.

Ricardo lives and works in Hattiesburg, Mississippi where he teaches art and art appreciation to Jr. High and High School students in addition to having a thriving fine arts practice.

He is passionate about using bright, contrasting colors and representational elements to create impactful subject matter that converses with the community.

Ricardo has painted murals in and around the South East United States, for Project Backboard in Moss Point, MS, the Atlanta BeltLine in 2018 and 2021, The Fertile Ground Project in Jackson, Mississippi in 2020, and is a member of the design team at Carbon Office in Jackson, Mississippi.
