CHERILON STEVENS

Cherilon grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she met her husband, Rusty, 37 years ago. After Rusty completed his residency the couple and their two children, Ben and Sara Beth , moved  from Galveston, Texas, to Laurel in 1998.  Cherilon devoted her early time in Laurel to raising their children,  supporting Rusty’s career, and volunteering in the local community.  Cherilon’s mother was a talented artist and inspired her daughter’s  creativity throughout her life. Her mother’s inspiration was never more present than after Cherilon’s children left for college and she sought an outlet for that creativity and found calligraphy as an expression of her art. What began as a hobby has now flourished into a career and expanded into other art forms including painting, and intaglio art.

Currently, Cherilon divides her time between her children (with the addition of a daughter-in-law, Leigh Ann),her first grandchild, Ann Townsend, her artwork, and the Caron Gallery.
